I have had the pleasure of knowing Dr.Pereira Lorenzo Marquise
since be came to Ireland.
ship be was my pupil and I can therefore speak with authority as
For a considerable part of his student-
to his talents and attainments.
I can truly say that I never knew, a student devote himself with
more zeal and earnestness to the work which he set before him; no
one had a higher idea of the aims of Medicine or a more disinter-
ested object in cultivating it as a science and as an art. His education and training have been such as to enable him to recog-
nise the advantage of cultivating the highest order of medical
knowledge and he has been greatly diligent and successful in ma-
king himself thoroughly familiar with practical Medicine and
Surgery..
I can most strongly recommend Dr. Marquise as being in every
way highly qualified to hold any public medical appointment.
I only hope he may obtain rewards and distinction commensurate
with his exceptional merits.
I shall always take a lively interest in his career, and vent-
ure to vaticinate that it shall not be an undistinguished one.
